The Srebrna Góra Stronghold is one of the largest mountain strongholds in Europe and a unique attraction in Lower Silesia. Here you will experience soldier’s life in the 18th century, find out first-hand what “Prussian drill” meant, and marvel at the mountain views.
Here history meets nature!
The guided tour will take you 70 minutes. However, reserve more time to take full advantage of the Silver Mountain attractions.
What will the guide show you?
- donjon,
- a model of the Fortress,
- underground casemates,
- a well carved into the rock,
- uniforms and equipment of soldiers from the 18th century,
- soldier’s chamber,
- fortress artillery, i.e. weapons and ammunition used in the Fortress
- and the ruins of the lazaretto.
The guide will also show you how the black-pistol guns worked!
What else will you explore on your own?
Take a look at the observation deck on the crown of the Donjon. You will see the panorama of the Bardzkie and Sowie Mountains, and behind them the Opawskie Mountains and the Śnieżnik Massif.
In the armoury, the exhibition “Silver Mountain on a former postcard” awaits you. And in the Lower Bastion, next to the ticket office, you will see finds from the former silver mine.
You will stroll through the grounds of the Silver Mountain Fortress and meet our fortress goat herd.

Practical tips:
- Dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. It is chilly in the underground of the Fortress and the mountainous terrain can be uneven.
- Leave your car in the car park. On the way to the Fortress we have prepared puzzles for the younger and a little older. The walk will take you around 20 minutes. And at the top of the fortified mountain, the world’s best guides are waiting for you, ready to reveal the secrets of the fortifications!
- You can bring your dog along, but keep him on a lead – our goats will be grateful 😊
