Ancient crafts

We are not only renovating here, but also filling the new space provided – we want to show you how our Fortress was built in the most accessible way possible. You won’t have to use your imagination, go back to historical engravings because here‼ on site you will see a functional replica of a construction crane (8m high) allowing the transportation of building materials (stone) by human-powered force in a pedestal wheel (about 3m in diameter), a replica of a construction tripod, a construction hoist allowing the lifting and installation of stonework elements (window and door bands, installation of bridge elements, lifting of skeleton building elements) by wheel-powered force.

In the final, 2024, we want to showcase ancient crafts, including, for example, workshops and demonstrations of wheelwrighting, hence we need to purchase wooden wheels with fittings – in parts for self-assembly as part of the classes. Workshop participants will also learn the trade of a cooper. Also in the scope are moulds for fortress bricks, wooden spirit levels, a frame building in parts for self-assembly, a fortress pipeline – a set will give an activity zone for children and young people, and a whole host of other items relating to former occupations.

To be lucky, we need to find a reliable contractor who can build working replicas of old devices and equipment – with craftsmanship, passion and a love of the history of technology.

If you are the kind of person who can do such things, or you know someone who would like to help us restore the memory of old technology and craftsmanship – read the terms and conditions for:

Purchase, delivery and installation of equipment and supplies for educational and cultural activities as part of the project: Revitalisation for cultural and educational purposes of degraded and inaccessible parts of the Historic Monument of the Stronghold of Srebrna Góra, placed on our tender platform:
