If this is your first visit to one of Lower Silesia's biggest tourist attractions, it's worth knowing:
- Tours of the Silver Mountain Fortress are either guided or self-guided.
- Individual tourists do not need a reservation – guided entrances take place every 20-25 minutes (except during November-March, when tours take place every hour or so). Groups of more than 20 people require a reservation.
- For visitors who do not speak Polish, there are audio guide kits available to get to know the fortress from all sides. A sign language and audiodescription option is also available.
- The temperature in the underground part of the Fortress is around 10°C all year round, so we suggest you stock up on warm clothing. The area of the Fortress is not a smooth path. It is uneven and difficult in places. We recommend trekking or sport shoes.
- The Fortress is approached via a scenic, ascending winding road, closed to vehicular traffic, which takes about 15 minutes to negotiate starting from the car park at the Silver Mountain Pass. The traffic ban on Mole Street does not apply to people with disabilities.
- We are open to pets as long as they are on a leash! There are goats and sheep living in the Fortress so we don’t want anything bad to happen to them.
- All year round there is a restaurant in the heart of the Fortress with delicious homemade food, aromatic coffee and a cold beer for refreshment!
- From May until the end of October, the Fortress operates a mini gastronomy and a cantina with the best Prussian toast.
- All winter long, you can enjoy hot chocolate, coffee or tea at the ticket office and keep warm; half of the tour is also heated.
- If something bad, unpleasant has happened to you during your visit to the Fortress – report it at the ticket office or in the office, we are not perfect, it is worth passing on criticism face to face.
- Due to its mountainous location and former military function, the site has terrain obstacles (e.g. rocky surfaces, stone thresholds, earth and stone paving) that determine visits for people with special needs only with the assistance of a companion.
